Bottles In Translation celebrates first anniversary

Return to Media page

May 2006, Boulder, Colo.—As our 1-year anniversary comes to pass, I could not help but think of the many milestones we have passed. When we started selling bottles, we had only one language, Spanish, and our bottles were available in only three colors. They were not Nalgene bottles either. That came later. Now we have three languages and we are considering two more. All of our bottles are now genuine Nalgene bottles, available today in six popular colors.

It is amazing to think that Bottles In Translation has been featured on television three times in the past year: twice on 9 News, and again on WB2 News in Denver. We have also appeared in newspapers, twice each in the Denver Post and Boulder Daily Camera, and in the Boulder County Business Report and Arizona Daily Star. Two prominent magazines have done stories on us: Zink, and the Colorado Business Magazine; and we have been introduced on three shopping websites: GoNomad.com, GizWizBiz.com, and StrangeNewProducts.com.

National sellers REI and LL Bean have considered Bottles In Translation products, as have such industry giants as Rick Steves and Frommers. Nine Colorado retailers and two stores in California currently carry the bottles. These include Neptune Mountaineering, the Boulder Book Store, Boulder Map Gallery, and Colorado University CU Bookstore, as well as Active Endeavors and Going In Style. Additionally, two Web sites currently sell our products: LuggagePoint.com and GoingInStyle.com.

Our bottles have been to the Colorado governor’s residence and taken as far away as South America. We have had requests for bottles with German translations, Hindi, Chinese, Nepali, and even Swahili.

There’s more to come from Bottles In Translation in the coming year. So, stay tuned! In the meantime, a great big thanks goes out to the following individuals and organizations for their support: George Morris and Imulus.com, Loren Sciaky and ToDesignWrite.com, and all the friends and family of Bottles In Translation.
